HPC at Supercomputing 2009

The HPC team will attend the SuperComputing 2009 (SC 09) conference from Sunday 14th of November until Friday 20th of November. During this period, we will showcase the HPC in the FSU booth and we will host presentations by Henry Winterbottom, Joycelynn Nelson and Gordon Erlebacher. Both Henry and Gordon will present from SC09 and their presentation will be displayed in the conference room at the Department of Scientific Computing. Joycelynn will present from the conference room and her presentation will be broadcasted live at SuperComputing.

HPC Student Competition

Next week we will host the HPC student competition talks in Dirac Science Library room 499. These talks will be held on Wednesday and Friday and the specific time for each talk is given below and on the HPC web site. Please join us.

HPC Upgrade In Progress

The HPC will be upgraded during the period of August 17 until Augustus 28. During this period we will re-stack the compute nodes from the 2007 acquisition, reconfigure part of the interconnection network and add 128 new compute nodes. The HPC will be unavailable to users during these two weeks.

Agreement Provides a Boost to Biomedical Research in Florida

The Florida State University has entered into a first-of-its-kind agreement with Torrey Pines Institute for Molecular Studies that will grant the biomedical research center access to an incredibly powerful array of computers at the university. Using the computers, Torrey Pines will conduct highly complex computational analyses that are a critical step in developing new treatments for a variety of diseases.
