The high performance parallel filesystem, Panasas, purchased for the HPC cluster at FSU is optimized for high-speed reads and writes and would be cost-prohibitive to use it for backups or long-term storage. Florida State University provides an offsite disaster recovery backup solution storage solution for a fee. We advise users to backup their critical scripts and data locally to their department's or personal storage.
