Ribbon-cutting Ceremony planned to Unveil Major Computing Upgrade at FSU
ribbon.jpgAdministrators from Florida State University and Dell Inc. will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony this week to display a dramatic advance in FSU’s supercomputing capabilities. The ceremony will take place:

TUESDAY, SEPT. 11

5:30 P.M.

SLIGER BUILDING BREEZEWAY

2035 E. PAUL DIRAC DRIVE (IN INNOVATION PARK)

University officials will be joined by John Mullen, Dell’s vice president of higher education, in unveiling the new High Performance Computing Cluster. FSU’s new High Performance Computing Center, where the Dell-based system will be based, will provide multidisciplinary research programs throughout the university with the infrastructure needed to compete in cutting-edge and innovative research areas. There will be photo opportunities and executives available for interviews.

Members of the news media who would like to know more about FSU’s High Performance Computing Center but are unable to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony can arrange for a tour of the facility and schedule an interview earlier in the day on Sept. 11. For more information, call Jim Wilgenbusch, associate director for computing of FSU’s School of Computational Science, at (850) 645-0307 or e-mail him at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
